Why I Thought Mindset Was Total B.S. (& I Was Wrong!)

Why I Used To Think Mindset Training Was Total BS

My entire life I have been a realist. I was never a super pessimist but I was never really an optimist. With that, I was always focused on action. That was my biggest thing especially in starting a business. I wanted to take action. I wanted every single day to know exactly what I had to do in order to produce results. So, when I first started online, I was looking for some answers on how to grow. I saw many different info online saying things like first, you need to adjust your mindset. I was like, “Blah blah blah, tell me what to do!”.

Why Was I Wrong About Seeing Mindset As BS?

All I wanted is just to tell me what to do. I don’t need to focus on my mindset. I wanted to focus on the numbers, the data, and the actual things that were going to put me in revenue. I was like that for a long time. But as time progress, I realize that while action is really important, mindset also is equally as important. If your mindset is not correct, you are going to struggle and you are going to suffer in your business.

What happens with the wrong mindset

If you don’t give yourself the freedom to grow personally and to address your insecurities that are holding you back on personal level, you could feel too tired to get anything done. You could be too unorganized to actually put anything together. You could be too afraid to actually show up consistently. You could feel too insecure to actually create a real strategy that will move you forward. You could be too indecisive to the point where you just keep spinning around in circles in your business and never actually taking that action. These are all mindset problems. These all stem from things within you that you need to adjust about your own self, about your own personality, about how you handle things, and about how you take on the world.

How has my mindset changed

When I first started, I did not know what I was doing. I had freelancers that charged me for way too much money and took advantage of me. I had family members or people in my life who would say things like you and your “little business”. It really bothered me. I would have clients that would not respect my time and expect way more of what I was actually offering them.

Those are the problems I needed to address personally. I had to stand up and decide that enough is enough because now, it takes quite a bit to make me feel insecure, to make me waver from my path. The reason for that is because you reach your point especially as a small business owner where you just can’t let people push you down.

If you are going to be depressed forever, then quit now. However, you can choose to stand up and look yourself in the mirror. Tell yourself, “I am here and I am going to do this and I don’t care what it takes. I don’t care about the amount of work because I know personally in my heart that I am going to be successful”.

Once you make that switch, that’s when the shift starts to happen. That’s when they start changing for you and your business because you are no longer afraid. You know who you are. Once you reach this point in your business, it changes the game. You now have the confidence to get out there, put yourself out there and really say I am who I am. I know that I can help you whatever it is and I’m here to help.

This is what it takes for mindset to work. For me, it didn’t need to take all in-depth actions suggested from journals, meditation, and lifestyle books. Though, I could learn a lot from them. But for now, I have built my confidence by digging deeper into who I am. Since I have done that, now I feel unstoppable. If you are struggling with your mindset and you don’t know if you are worth it, I am going to tell you that you are worth it. You can do this. Have the confidence in yourself to get it together. Think about yourself the way you want other people to think about you and then take the action you need to succeed.
